Myrtle’s All-Time Greatest Hit Jewel-Minton Mr. Scottie Jewel and Miss Loretta Minton was united in marriage at the Crawfish Church a Saturday about 4 o’clock in the evening Rev. Daw Curry was the one who married them They had a church wedding with the Candle burning and pretty bow and ribbon tied to the wall the Bride wore a white gown they had the best man for to give them the ring so they can put it on their finger. They also had a girl for the Groom so it was a beautiful wedding the boy parents was Mr. and Mrs. Scott Jewel the girl mother was also there to see her daughter married and she had other relatives and friends there they was a large crowd there for the wedding they also had a big wedding cake three layer with the boy and girl on it. Mr. Clarence Hollins help with the wedding. I also help cut the beautiful wedding cake for crowd I sure did get my hand full of cake icing they had plenty of pop to drink they all seem to enjoy therself. June 6, 1991: This year is locust years and they holler their self to death.
October 30, 1958:The Horse Creek Graded School has dismissed for about four or five days on account of the furnace blew up.
July 15, 1976: Mrs. Myrtle Shoupe celebrated her birthday at her home yesterday her guest were Mrs. Sallie Perkins, Mrs. Essie Peters and son Rickie, Mrs. Sudie Hollin, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nellay from London, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Smith and son and two step children had a big dinner and enjoy ourself I want to thank everyone who gave me money and also gifts thank the Lord that he let me live to see another birthday.
Mrs. Shoupe turned 67 that year.
Fast-food heaven, Part 1
July 30, 1975: Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Simmons and three children from Plymouth, Nebraska was recent guest of her mother, Myrtle Shoupe. They all went to Corbin shopping Thursday and had dinner at Long John Silvers.

July 14, 1977: Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hollin and Mrytle Shoupe went to Long John Silvers Sunday evening and had supper Mr. Hollin bought my supper for my birthday. Thanks Mr. Hollin.

November 11, 1993: We stop at the Long John Silver last night and bought a nice box of fish and chicken I always love fish they sure have got some good fish we talk to the manager of the Long John Silver her name was Birtha Hayes she was nice to talk to and she talk about have God help her and bought a set of my pillow slip I am selling for Christmas.
February 16, 1962: Miss ----- is a good little girl, she goes to high school everyday. She is expecting to get married soon she might have a church wedding.
May 21, 1992 (Mother's Day): I had a good mother day I went to church and injoy it and come back and my daughter Layuna and Charles was ready to take me to a big restaurant for dinner we all had cat fish but my son law had steak we sure injoy it and daughter also went and bought me a nice wrist watch it sure nice and God bless me to live to se another mother day and I sure thank him for it.
January 12, 1956: Little Ed Smith and Russel Buttery wrecked on a bicycle Saturday evening. It didn’t hurt Russel but it knocked Ed out for about three hours. Sure don’t want him to ride another bicycle.
September 29, 1977: The man who people call him Old Man the one who deliver my paper to me he seen to be a nice man to talk to.
January 15, 1959: Well all the Hima Boys are doing very well and they claim they will quit stealing. So keep on praying for them that they will do better.
September 8, 1960: Miss L— W— is engaged to be married soon. Her wedding dress cost her $75.00. It sure must be a nice dress.
November 26, 1959: Aunt Mollie Curry is a good woman she is doing everything she knows to serve the Lord. She will never cheat nobody if she knows it. She don’t go to the Postoffice and peoples homes to take anything. Everybody pray for her she needs prayer.
November 25, 1993: A proven fact medicine for arthritis 1 pt apple cider vinegar 1 pt strained honey mix well together and cover in jar for an adult take 2 tablespoon added to fruit glass of water 3 time a day you may sip it along with your meals as coffee are as a cocktail of fruit juice.
March 21, 1974: Say if people don’t start praying for our country we don’t no what going to happen to the world just watch the news they don’t no what going to happen next so prayer changes everything so please pray so our country will come out on top.
October 25, 1962: Mrs. Mrytle Harris got her thumb broke a Sunday evening by a card door. A woman shut the door on my thumb and broke it. Pray God will heal it.
Harris was Mrs. Shoupe’s name in a different marriage.
March 16, 1962: The boys in the Hawk unit at Fort Bliss Texas appreciate the Manchester Enterprise very much and said to tell everybody they liked the Army especially inspections and KP guard duty.
May 16, 1957: Mr. Reid Gross and Robinson boys say they are going to Florida for a Vacation and it is nobodys business.
April 22, 1993: I wont the lady who help clean my apartment to call me I got my home to clean up on Horse Creek and may give you a job I lost your phone number and I forgot your name.

February 16, 1956: The house that Myrtle Shoupe lives in the top blew off it so she had to get up and bail water out of her house and pour out two tubs full of water. She was afraid to lay back down afraid the house would overflow with water. Hope some day I get a house to live in that won’t leak.
