Hello there
My friend Carol in Barbourville told me about your web-site. She knows I like to hear about life in Kentucky and she assured me that your column was the best at 'telling it like it is'.
My name is Dionne Dunsmore and I live in Stoneyburn, a tiny village in West Lothian, Central Scotland, UK. I don't know if you get much mail from Scotland, this may even be the first.
I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed everything I read there and look forward to reading your updates on a weekly basis. I wish you many more years of continuing to serve your community.
Dionne D., Scotland
Thank you for providing the news.It is nice to be able to read about news from home. My family and I live in Tulsa Oklahoma and don't hear from the family there very often. Hopefully one day we will make a trip home and get to meet you.
Thank you and God bless.

Ms. Shoupe, As I was browsing the web for info on some property in Clay County I stumbled on your column. I, however, have picked myself up after reading some of your dialougue and I and am walking a little bit better because of you! Keep up the great job!

I am most happy to have found your column. It makes a bad day very bright. It is a joy to read. Wish I had more info. on your town. Certainly seems like a wonderful place to visit. Living here in Eastern Canada, your column reminds me so much of the old homestead and surrounding neighbours. Hope you have a wonderful 2000 and many more.

Hello Mrs. Shoupe,
Let me first start out by saying how wonderful it is to have found your page. There are many ideas and kinder attitudes that my generation and the generation after mine has lost. It is nice to come across such old fashioned thoughts on the internet.

Dear Mrs. Shoupe,
Hello again from Looneys Gap. Hope this letter finds you feeling much better and up and around. It has been a busy summer here on the farm. We had a full calf crop this year, we didnt lose a one. The tobacco looks real good. We topped and sprayed it last week. I guess well be cutting it in another week.
My garden could have been better this year but dry weather seemed to stunt most of the vegetables early. I bush hogged through a bumblebees nest and got popped a few times. Of course I swelled up like a big balloon and everybody laughed. The grapes are real good this year, a few more days and Im going to make the jelly fly. Even though the dry weather has make the garden season short, Ive noticed the cellar is getting full. Ive canned beans and tomatoes. I didnt make any pickles this year. The cucumbers were in short supply and I just decided to eat them fresh and sit around and remember how good they were this winter. Ha ha. Were putting a beef in the freezer next week and Im going to have a freight train load of pumpkins if nothing dont happen to them. I dont think anybody will starve around here this winter.
Have you been eating any fresh peaches? They wont be around much longer. I had an adventure last week, I was hauling cattle for a neighbor in his brand new featherlite aluminum trailer and crumpled the fender up on it. poor guy, I know he wanted to frail the daylights out of me but he handled the situation real well. I was mortified I just knew he would blow into bits when I told him.
Life gets tedious sometimes. Everyone here is well and I hope you are the same. Stay out of the hot weather it will zap you in a heartbeat. Me and my dad have been trying to figure out how to mount a shade tree on the tractor so we can mow hay in the shade. We would appreciate any and all suggestions you might have on the project. Ha ha. God bless you Mrs. Shoupe until next time.
Love,
Betty C.
Just stopped in to see how you were doing. I have been to your site several times to catch up on news there in your Kentucky home, and have recommended it to many of my friends. When I am feeling a little sad and confused about the world, I come see you at your site and it eases my heart that there are still people like you in the world. I am praying for you, Myrtle, and hope you get well soon.

Dear Myrtle,
I was so glad to hear about your site on the web. My family and I now live on the east coast, Virginia, and only get "home" about once a year so its so good to be able to catch up on what is going on back home. My parents grew up in Manchester but now reside in Michigan. They suscribe to the Enterprise so they told us about your new web site. Good for you, keep up the good work.
