The scandal involving two former government officials widened. Federal authorities said that the former assistant police chief embezzled more than $5,000 in police department funds and that the former 911 director offered a witness $100 to lie for him. Both men were previously charged with selling $1 million worth of drugs.

In high school football, the Clay County Tigers overran Perry County Central's Commodores, 60 to 36. The Tigers' season record is now 6-1.
